On December 17, 2004, the CEO of Baazee.com, Avnish Bajaj was arrested under section 67 of the Information Technology Act (for transmission of obscene material through electronic media). The arrest was related to the illegal sale of pornographic CDs through the website in November 2004. The arrest was condemned by the National Association of Software and Service Companies which called it a "draconian approach" of the law enforcement agencies. He was released on December 21 on bail by the Delhi High Court.
